Hello my name is Lauren Gill. I am the 11-year-old daughter of Jermain and Georgiann Gill. I was so excited after my interview when I learned I had been invited to be in the Girls Self-Esteem Program.

The program takes outstanding girls and puts us through a strict regiment of classes to build our self-esteem.

I had no idea I'd end up taking ballet in our sister program, The Natalia Johnson Conservatory of Ballet when I interviewed to be in G-SEP. I starred in the Nutcracker in Oak Park with several of my fellow dance sisters and brothers. My dad ran the front of the theater and my mother got us all ready behind stand and on stage on time. I have already been promoted in dance. Speaking of promotion, I am graduating from G-SEP on Saturday September 14th. I want you to come see me onstage. I'll be dancing and wearing a beautiful ballgown.

I have taken classes on self-respect, dining etiquette, self-defense, sisterhood, career and college planning and I've met so many new girls who are now my sisters.

To graduate from G-SEP I must complete a career interview, bring my resume for review and answer several current event questions before a panel of judges.

As a reporter for G-SEP TV, I am ready for the challenge. I am also getting ready for college. With plans to become the President of the United States of America, I am already looking at colleges. I am asking all my family and friends to support me by donating to the Girls Self-Esteem Program Scholarship Fund. I am eligible to receive 1/2 of all the funds I raise for my education.

Sowells, Shadora

Graduation Ticket Donation
Hello I'm Shadora Sowells.  I am 10-years-old.  I have been a member of the Girls Self-Esteem Program since I was 3-years-old.  Though I am getting up there in age, I still love this program.

For many years I was an only child.  Thanks to G-SEP I always had sisters and people to play with. I went through lots of bullying at my previous school because I chose to make more positive choices than my peers.

My participation in G-SEP helped me to share my challenges.  I told Ms. Carol what the kids were doing and saying.  She, Ms. Kandice and my parents got to the bottom of it.  I stood up for myself, finished out my commitment to learning Spanish at that school and moved on to a better educational environment. I am going to be a Spanish Teacher.

Today I am asking you to help me further my education by giving to the G-SEP Scholarship Fund. When you make a donation in my name, it makes me eligible to receive a college scholarship.  All of the 800 girls who have been in G-SEP have all gone on to college, career jobs or the military.

Miss Kandice believes that I may be the girl she selects to take over G-SEP when she retires. Please come see me graduate September 14th.  I am dedicating my praise dance to Ms. Doris who with my mom and dad, Mr. Zeke and Mrs. Chrishona Sowells have been doing an amazing job supporting me.

Ms. Doris went to Heaven in May. Thank you all. Love Shadora!

Hello my name is Kamryn Simmons. I am 5-years-old. When I grow up I am going to be a ballerina, a star and an artist. I am in the Girls Self-Esteem Program. I am writing to ask you to support me by making a donation toward my scholarship fund.

I have enjoyed being in G-SEP and dancing with the Natalia Johnson Conservatory of Ballet. I have been taking ballet classes pretty much all my life.

This is my first year in G-SEP. I have gone to etiquette class, public speaking class, a pajama party and have learned how to help put together a resume. I have a career interview coming up on Saturday and I am going to do very well.

I am learning to talk louder and prouder in G-SEP. I really admire my mother for her strength to endure and take care of me and my two brothers. A whole lot of people think my mommy is very strong and they have her back. I thank my grandmother for bringing me to G-SEP and I love my father. He watches over all of us.

I hope I will see you September 14th.

With Love Kamryn!
